About participant development

Participants and members are the heartbeat of your organisation, but it can be a challenge to attract new people and retain those already involved.

If people don’t have a positive experience, they’re less likely to stay – it’s important to know the different ways you can engage with members and participants so their interests and wellbeing are prioritised.

It’s also important to know how to create an environment where everyone has a sense of belonging and feels included, which will be good for your organisation, and also help to tackle some of the deep-rooted inequalities that exist in sport and physical activity.

This section has advice and guidance on how your organisation can become more inclusive, create great experiences, reach out to new audiences and support the development of all your participants and members, from social members to talented athletes.
